During the first week of the 2026–2027 academic year, the Geological Engineering Program organized an orientation activity to welcome freshmen of Cohort 15 and introduce the academic journey, student activities, and diverse career opportunities awaiting them after graduation.
The activity provided new students with an overview of the Geological Engineering Program, including its training objectives, learning environment, and opportunities for professional development throughout their university journey. Students were introduced to the important role of geological engineering in energy, natural resources, infrastructure development, and environmental sustainability.
During their study at PVU, Geological Engineering students have opportunities to participate in a wide range of academic and extracurricular activities, including technical seminars, field trips, geological and geophysical surveys, research projects, student scientific activities, and professional networking events with experts and industry partners. These activities help students strengthen their fundamental knowledge, develop practical skills, enhance problem-solving abilities, and gain valuable experience in applying geological and engineering concepts to real-world challenges.

A key part of the orientation program focused on introducing career pathways and employment opportunities for Geological Engineering graduates. Students were informed that graduates can pursue careers across various sectors, reflecting the broad and interdisciplinary nature of geological engineering.
In the oil and gas exploration and production sector, graduates can work at multinational energy companies such as ENI, Schlumberger, JVPC, Chemostrat, Murphy Oil, and Halliburton, as well as exploration and production organizations including PVEP, PVEP Song Hong, Phu Quoc POC, Bien Dong POC, Hoan Long – Hoan Vu JOC, and Vietsovpetro. Opportunities are also available in petroleum research institutes and technical service companies such as VPI, NIPI, PTSC M&C, PTSC G&S, and PVD Logging.
Career Opportunities in Petroleum Exploration and Production
With the global transition toward sustainable energy, Geological Engineering graduates also have increasing opportunities in renewable energy fields, particularly offshore wind and geothermal energy. Potential career opportunities include organizations such as Offshore Wind Consultants (OWC), Renewable Technical Center, UPC Renewables Vietnam Management, and PTSC G&S, which are involved in renewable energy development and offshore wind-related activities.
In addition, graduates can develop professional careers in geological engineering and related fields, including geological and mineral research institutes, geological survey organizations, mining companies, engineering geology and construction survey companies, and international engineering corporations such as Hyundai Engineering & Construction.
The program also highlights emerging opportunities at the intersection of geological engineering, digital technologies, and data science. Graduates with skills in data processing, programming, and digital solutions can explore career opportunities at technology and engineering companies such as East Sea Star, Star Global JSC, Global CyberSoft Vietnam, and TMA Solutions.
Through this orientation activity, the Geological Engineering Program aims to help freshmen of Cohort 15 understand the value of their chosen field, recognize diverse professional pathways, and actively prepare the knowledge, technical skills, and professional competencies required for future success.
