On October 30th, in Ba Ria city, the PetroVietnam University (PVU) solemnly held the opening ceremony of the new school year 2020-2021 and awarded the Master's degree & engineering.

At the ceremony, PVU Vice Pricipal- Mr. Le Van Sy reported on the summary of the 2019-2020 school year and the direction for the 2020-2021 school year. Accordingly, in the previous school year, PVU trained 220 full-time students; 35 students with Master's degrees in Marine Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. PVU carried out the tasks of scientific research and training services and has achieved many encouraging achievements.

The school also recognized the graduation of 37 undergraduate students in Course , including 09 students with excellent grades (accounting for 24.3%), 23 students with good grades (accounting for 62.1%) and 05 students with average scores (accounting for 13). ,5%). The learning results of the whole school are: 0.5% of students have achieved excellent, 20% of students have achieved excellent, 49.6% of students have achieved good and 27.3% of students have achieved medium. In addition to studying, PVU students actively participate in extra-curricular activities at the Culture and Sports Club inside and outside the school. They participated in the program
"Supermarket at 0 VND" to support people in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province who have difficulties and suffer damage due to the Covid-19 epidemic. They also joined in environmental protection activities "Let's keep the sea blue" and academic activities (SPE, English...).
Regarding international cooperation, PVU continues to effectively implement the contents signed with partners, including: Honeywell UOP Group (USA), Haldor Topsoe (Denmark). PVU also continues to sponsor scholarships for excellent students and successfully enrolls in a joint training program with New Mexico Tech University (USA).

In the past school year, the University welcomed 8 delegations into cooperation and signed 5 international cooperation agreements. In particular, PVU and NMT (New Mexico Tech University) signed a joint training contract in 3 majors: Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Earth Science/Petroleum Geology under program 2 +3 (in which 2 years of studying at PVU and 3 years of studying at NMT, a university degree granted by NMT with a special tuition fee for PVU students (about 10,000 USD/year)). Currently, the University is discussing with NMT to continue to sign joint training contracts at higher levels.
Entering the new school year 2020-2021, the entire Oil and Gas industry in general is trying to overcome the difficulties of the "double crisis" from the Covid-19 pandemic. Oil prices are always fluctuated at low level. PVU is still unstable in terms of organization and operation model. Dr. Phan Minh Quoc Binh – Principal of PVU called on all PVU’s staff, lecturers and students always to unite, appreciate the efforts that our collective has made when looking at the past; to always promote creativity, the spirit of self-study, self-research, and the desire to conquer the peak of knowledge at the present; to strive and build the PetroVietnam University to become a regional and Asian energy university in the near future.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Phan Ngoc Trung - Member of the Board of Directors of the Group recognized the outstanding efforts and achievements of all staff, teachers, employees and students of PVU. He also recognized important results in the past academic year of PVU.
The University’s 10th years old marked a new development step when PVU was officially recognized as meeting the national educational quality accreditation standards. Many new types have been implemented such as: International cooperation at all levels of education, training at master's level, and stabilizing more and more students to participate. The school has officially registered to accredit the training program with ABET International Accreditation Organization.
At the ceremony, PVU awarded Master's degrees to 3 postgraduates and announced the decision to graduate, awarded engineering degrees to 37 graduates of the 5th Course (school year 2015-2020); awarded the Honeywell UOP Group's specialized training certificates in refining and petrochemicals to the graduates. The PetroVietnam Group awarded certificates of merit and rewards to 3 valedictorian graduates with the amount of 10 million VND/student, awarded certificates of merit and rewarded to excellent graduates, praised excellent students in activities throughout the 2019-2020 school year. They also rewarded new students with the highest scores in the entrance exam to PVU in the 2020 entrance exam.

In the new academic year 2020-2021, PVU welcomes 54 full-time students of the 9th Course, whose input quality is among the top universities in Vietnam with petroleum training, 04 new university students affiliated with NMT Institute of Technology and Technology and received 15 master students in Petroleum Engineering.
The ceremony of awarding the master- engineer degrees, the opening ceremony of the new school year 2020-2021 ended with the joy and excitement of PVU staff, lecturers and students. They entered the new school year with a new mindset and new orientation, ambitions and dreams on the way to conquering their knowledge. In particular, PVU live streamed the ceremony directly on the school's page on facebook. It has attracted the attention of many parents and students inside and outside the school.

PVU signed an service supply chain cooperation agreement in the industry with units in Petrovietnam.
On October 30TH, in Ba Ria city, Vietnam University of Petroleum (PVU) solemnly held the signing ceremony of an agreement on cooperation in the supply chain of services in the industry with units in Petrovietnam.

PVU has signed agreements to cooperate in the supply chain of services in the industry with many legal entities. in which, at the ceremony, PVU signed cooperation agreements with parties such as: East Sea Oil and Gas Operating Company - BIENDONG POC, PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP), PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemical Corporation (PVFCCo), Ca Mau Petroleum Fertilizer Joint Stock Company (PVCFC). The following content:
- Training and developing human resources.
- Develop and implement scientific research programs, organize scientific forums, seminars and conferences.
- Organizing exchange activities; Organize events to promote the image of the units.
- Facilitating and introducing job opportunities for PVU students…

The signing of a cooperation agreement between PVU and units in the Oil and Gas industry aims to strengthen the comprehensive and long-term cooperation relationship. Besides, it also promotes the strengths of each side to support, complement and coordinate with each other. Mutual benefits for the common development of each unit.
In the recent years, marine pollution has becoming worse, affecting negatively socio-economic development and many people’s livelihood. Therefore, marine environmental protection is an urgent task today. With this in mind, PetroVietnam University students took actions to spread the message of "Protecting the sea" to local people in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.
In October 2020, participating in the Coastal Painting Project, PVU students and volunteers drew propaganda pictures along 3 km of Phuoc Hai embarkment, showing love for the ocean and raising environmental protection awareness among local people.

In addition, on October 11, PVU cooperated with their partners and Green Trips VietNam to organize an environmental clean-up program with the theme "Where hearts beat as one for environment” at Doi Nhai beach, Vung Tau city. The event attracted more than 300 volunteers from schools, private organizations, businesses and team clubs in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. They cleaned and collected garbage along the coast. After more than 3 hours, the volunteers collected about 900 bags of household trash washed ashore on Doi Nhai beach and sent for treatment.
The Head of Program Organizing Committee, Mr. Le Thai Hien – a PVU alumnus, said: “With the support of PVU teachers and students, I have contacted Green Trips Vietnam and other institutions to jointly organize the program "Sunday Clean - up". Such programs will encourage young people to act for the community, participate in environmental protection, and respond to climate change. We hope to contribute to making the living environment clean and friendly, stimulating tourism in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province."
It is worth noting that "Sunday Clean - up 2020" events were held on the same day in 5 countries: Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, USA, and Vietnam. In Vietnam, 8 provinces took part in the event, including Ba Ria – Vung Tau.
